Guyandotte River Crayfish Survey of Pinnacle Creek and Beartown Fork

Decota conducted crayfish, habitat, and water chemistry surveys on Pinnacle Creek and Beartown Fork of the Guyandotte River, associated with the proposed Beartown Surface Mine, on behalf of Tams Management, Inc. Crayfish surveys were conducted at 21 locations to determine the presence or absence of the endangered Guyandotte Crayfish (Cambarus veteranus). The assessed reaches were found to have an abundance of potential habitat suitable for C. veteranus. The best available habitats were identified, assessed, and surveyed thoroughly for the presence of C. veteranus, and multiple individuals were found.
